Christiana Figueres was the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) 2010-2016 and the public face of the most pivotal climate agreement in history, the Paris Climate Agreement of 2015. Together with Tom Rivett-Carnac (who was Christiana’s political strategist at the UN) she is the co-founder of Global Optimism, an organisation focused on bringing about environmental and social change. They work closely with key campaigners on climate, among them Greta Thunberg, Al Gore, Leonardo DiCaprio, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Jane Goodall and David Attenborough. With Tom she is the co-author of The Future We Choose - the book about climate crisis we need right now: timely and vitally optimistic. It is a passionate and accessible manifesto written by two experts who defied the odds and provided hope for a generation.
