Chris Boardman is the Cycling and Walking Commissioner for Greater Manchester. He works as an adviser to the Mayor, responsible for setting the strategic approach and established the largest capital programme for active travel outside of London. He has held presenting roles at major events including the Olympic Games and the Tour de France, and has utilised regular presenting roles for BBC and ITV to make active travel visible to a wider audience. In 1992, he took Great Britain's opening Gold medal at the Barcelona Olympics astride the infamous Lotus bike. It was Britain's first cycling Gold medal in 72 years. Between 1992 and 2000 Chris represented Great Britain at the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
